A- Transfers

  • Former MP Mir Taher Mousavi has been moved to Ward 350 after more than 8 months in solitary.

B- Arrests/Incarcerations

  • Mohammad-Bagher Alavi and  Mehdi Motamedi Mehr, members of the Freedom Movement of Iran, arrested.

  • Mona Ameri and Rofia Pakzadan, Baha’i living in Gorgan, arrested and sent to Amir-Abad prison.

  • Mohammad Reza Afkhami, Hadi Ehtezaziand, Amin Faridian, and former MP Hossein Loghmanian arrested on their way to Tehran from Hamedan.

  • Christian convert Ebrahim Firoozi rearrested by plainclothes officers.

  • Pedram Ghaderian arrested in Paveh.

  • Relatives of Gonabadi dervishes Sadegh Moradi-Sarvestani, brother of Farzad and Hamid-Reza Moradi-Sarvestani, and Behnam Yadollahi-Farsi, brother of Farshid Yadollahi, arrested in Shiraz in front of Adel-Abad prison.

  • Baha’i living in Gorgan, arrested and sent to Amir-Abad prison.

  • Mehdi Ramezani, father of slain Iranian protester Ramin Ramezani, summoned to Evin Prison to serve his 3 months sentence.

C- Liberations

  • Mehrdad Ahan-Khah, Ahmad-Reza Ahmadpour, Hasan Asadi-Zeidabadi, Mehdi Khodaei, Hasan Faraji-Mousavi, Saman Hamidi-Azadi, Behzad Houshmand-Mavid, Ali-Akbar Mohammadzadeh, Shahabeddine Mortazavi, Mohammad Rezaei, Majid Sedaghat, Nasim Soltan-Beigi, and lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh released on furlough for Norooz clemency.

  • Poet Dr. Mostafa Badkoobei, journalist  Zhila Bani-Yaghoub, political activist and head of the Youth Branch of Iran Freedom Movement Emad Bahavar, and Fatemeh Rahnama released on furlough.

  • Faezeh Hashemi-Rafsanjani freed after serving her sentence.

  • Journalist Mohammadjavad Rooh released.

D- Other News

  • Member of the Committee of Humanr Rights Reporters and former prisoner Kouhyar Goudarzi left Iran, where he was facing a 5 year prison sentence.

News of injustice in Iran

  • Cyber activist Vahid Asghari’s death sentence was overturned by the Supreme Court and the case will be reviewed again.

  • Tabriz university student Babak Baghaei has been sentenced to 6 months on charges of propagating against the regime

University – Culture

  • Ahmadinejad has instructed his Minister of Science/Technology to dismiss the heads of the Tehran and Tarbiat Modarres universities. – Farhad Rahbar has been the head of Tehran University since 2007 and Bijan Ranjbar had headed Tarbiat Modarres University since 2010.

  • Marjane Satrapi’s graphic novel Persepolis has been banned from Chicago Public Schools.

Protests

  • Protest against unpaid wages at the tile factory Gilana in front of governor’s office in Rudbar.

  • Drivers protest outside Majlis for their confiscated imported cars.

  • Slovenia to close Embassy in Iran

  • MEK turned down Albania’s offer of asylum to 210 of its members who are living in Iraq.

  • Iran Central Bank challenges sanctions in Britain’s Supreme Court.

  • Mandate of UN special rapporteur on human rights in Iran Ahmed Shaheed renewed: 26 in favor, 2 against.

Miscellaneous

  • Drug shortage to force closure of Iranian operating rooms.

  • Iranians are reportedly perishing in large numbers from tainted Chinese penicillin and lack of medicine, including anaesthetic for surgery.

  • Drunken Saudi embassy staff member causes fatal accident in Tehran.
